Master of Nursing (MN)(2 yrs)

The aim of the MN program is to prepare nurses with advanced knowledge of women health and development/ adult nursing/child health nursing, to improve the health and well-being of individuals and thereby contribute fully to the health of their family, community and the nation. After successful completion of the two years course of study, the students will be awarded the Master of Nursing Degree in the selected specialty areas.

Goals

The graduates will acquire knowledge and skills to function in one or more of the following roles: practitioner, educator, manager and / or researcher.

  • Provide promotive, preventive, supportive, curative and restorative nursing care at an advanced level
  • Establish and manage formal and informal education program
  • Mange health care services and
  • Conduct research to promote the health of people

Criteria for admission

The minimum requirements for admission in the MN program are as follows:
  • A baccalaureate degree in nursing (BNS or BSc Nursing)
  • A minimum of two years of teaching or clinical experience in nursing following completion of BNS or B. Sc Nursing.
  • Entrance test is required for all the candidates and selection will be done purely on merit basis.
  • Admission seat in the master of nursing program depends on IOM policy

Master of Public Health (MPH) (2 yrs)

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program aims to prepare professional public health experts with the highest possible technical and managerial competence in respective level of health programs, including problem identification, planning, implementing, training, health education, evaluation and research

Goals

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program intends to produce skillful, market oriented and competent public health experts who can contribute in delivering the public health program effectively.

  • Develop the knowledge and skills in applied health sciences, laboratory works on applied health sciences and their application.
  • Introduce and enhance the knowledge and practical skills in public health, primary health, health systems development, health economics, nutrition and environmental health.
  • Train and develop the skills on epidemiological aspects of diseases and health system.
  • Develop skills in designing; analyzing and evaluating applied public health science research and management.
  • Enhance the knowledge and practical skills in dealing with human resource development and existing issues in public health management.
  • Develop the research and scientific writing skills through the introduction of term paper and thesis.
  • Ensure the skillful, practical and leading human resources through the community diagnosis and comprehensive field practices.
  • Develop the extracurricular competencies through training, seminar and exposure.
  • Equip public health professionals with communication and group organization skills for promoting community participation in health and development activities ultimately leading to the individual and community self-reliance in health services and improvement in health status.

Criteria for admission

The MMIHS will follow strictly the rules and regulations of the University. The candidate who wants to involve in admission process should pass bachelor in public health (BPH.) or any health related bachelor program recognized by University. Besides the basic academic requirement, an entrance examination will be held for all applicants. Entrance exam will be taken by University.
